Entry Title:

Vibrant Colors During Dark Times

Project Description:

I entered a photograph of New York City that was taken at 298 W 42nd St on December 28th, 2020. This photo was the first shot I took on my trip over the COVID-19 pandemic and features pedestrians wearing masks and a film theatre reading ‘Temporarily closed.’ I took this photo not only as a memory of New York City, but as a memory of COVID-19 and its dampening effects on tourism and the economy. The vibrant colors of the city continued to uphold its reputation for being bold and bombastic, even over the pandemic.
